A train with goods wagons is passing before the pit and in the background is Hicksons and Welch chemical works. The locomotive is a Class 47 (formerly Brush Type 4). Behind the locomotive is a Guards Van, also called a Brake Van. The following vehicles are known as bogie-bolster wagons, used to carry long items such as railways lines or timber.
