Alan Leslie Brooke enlisted at Padgate sometime between September 1939 and February 1940. He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve as a Flight Sergeant (Pilot) and was given the service number 1111808. He died on 22nd August 1942 aged 22 and is buried in Ilkley Cemetery. He was the second son of Harold and May Brooke, formerly of Normanton and now residing in Ilkley.
