There is a tablet above the pulpit in Crofton Church dedicated to him. In Peter Scholefield’s book “The bells of Crofton” it says “January 8th 1916 a muffled peal on Sunday was rung by Ackworth in memory of Lt Lyell and those soldiers who gave their lives in the war”.
