Ernest Fuller was in the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers when he died on 3rd February 1945 age 25. He was buried in Maynamati War Cemetery, Bangladesh, Plot 1, Row B, Grave 20.
Before the war Maynamati was a hamlet of a few dozen huts, but during the war a large military camp was established there. Several ordnance depots and a number of military hospitals, both British and Indian, were in the area, including Nos. 14 and 150 British General Hospitals. The majority of the burials in Maynamati War cemetery were from the various hospitals.

“Fusilier Ernest Fuller, has died in India, after an attack of pneumonia. Fusilier Fuller, who was 25, had been in the Army five years, half of which were spent in India, and another year in Ireland. He was educated at the Ropewalk School and worked at Jackson’s Glassworks, Knottingley. He was stationed with his brother Fusilier W Fuller, for two years in India. Another son, Marine H Fuller is stationed in Britain.”

Ernest Fuller was born in the first quarter of 1920 and his birth was registered at Sheppey. He was the son of William A Fuller and his wife Margaret (Née McClaren) who had married in the fourth quarter of 1914 at Camberwell.
