“AIRMAN’S DEATH
Sergt John Leslie Jackson of the RAF, and of Chapel Street, Knottingley, has been killed in an accident in this country on returning from a successfully completed air operation. The funeral took place on Monday. A service at St Botolph’s Church, Knottingley was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. W Musgrave), and Sergt Jackson was buried at North Featherstone, where Mr Musgrave again conducted the ceremony. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack, and representatives of the RAF were among the mourners. There were many wreaths from relatives and friends, including three from the RAF. Before the war Sergt Jackson was a motor driver in London for three years. He leaves a widow and one son.”

John Leslie Jackson was born in the fourth quarter of 1912 and his birth was registered at Howden, near Goole.
In the fourth quarter of 1934 he married Ivy M Pinder.
