William Henry Parkin served with the Coldstream Guards and was stationed at Caterham Guards Depot. He died on 1st September 1940 age 32 and was buried in Knottingley Cemetery Grave 5600.
He was one of six Coldstream Guardsmen killed on 1st September 1940 in a German air raid on RAF Kenley (about 1 mile from Caterham). Dornier 17 bombers flew in low as they came in to attack. 3 other casualties all had service numbers close to his, so it is presumed they enlisted at same time, and were probably undergoing training at Caterham.
